Works to Begin Later This Month on Mount Wise Gardens Regeneration

Newquay Town Council are pleased to share that they will be “breaking ground” later this month on plans to develop Mount Wise Gardens, following a period of public consultation and engagement with the local community. The proposals have been shaped by feedback received and reflect a shared ambition to enhance this much-loved space for current and future generations.

The scheme will see the regeneration of an existing community asset, transforming Mount Wise Gardens into a more vibrant, welcoming and accessible environment. Central to the plans is the creation of an exciting new play park that is inclusive, engaging and meaningful for people of all ages and abilities. The wider improvements will encourage outdoor activity, social interaction and greater use of the gardens by residents and visitors alike, helping to support health, wellbeing and community cohesion.

With the Mount Wise breaking ground ceremony taking place later this month, work will soon begin to transform Mount Wise Gardens into a more vibrant, welcoming and accessible space 🌿
This project has been shaped through feedback from the community. We understand there may be questions about the changes, but the plans have been carefully developed to complement existing green spaces and create a more usable, inclusive environment for everyone.

We’ve also worked closely with partners, including Newquay in Bloom, to ensure the gardens’ character is preserved. Existing trees and planting will be retained wherever possible, with no unnecessary removal.

🚧 From 1 June 2026, a section of the gardens will be temporarily closed for approximately 8–10 weeks while works take place.

Access through Mount Wise will still be available via the central path.
